Two labs for experimenting with pervasive software technology are being planned. The labs serve a number of important purposes. A primary purpose is to establish a concrete testbed for testing research ideas and themes and gain insight and feedback from existing architectures and applications. Secondly, a lab is a very visible and con-crete environment that will hopefully attract talented students.

Audio- Video Lab
In cooperation with B&O, it is being planned to establish a lab for experimenting with audio- and video units connected in a network with computers. The purpose is to make it possible to for researchers and students to make experiments with develop-ment of software for appliances in a pervasive context. We expect the lab to be an interesting possibility for making projects with embedded systems. In addition, we expect the lab to strengthen the relations with B & O. The lab will also be used by other research areas focusing on the application level of audio-and video systems.
